The exciting 2016 Hobie® Kayak Fishing Series casts off hitting new and exciting waterways, revisiting old favourites, and featuring awesome innovations. Back by popular demand there’s a return to “one day wonders” and “two day tournaments”. We have created new divisions to encourage youth, female and older anglers (Masters 60 -64yrs and Grand Masters 65yrs and above). All divisional anglers are still in the running for the open points and prizes, but with a little more incentive. It doesn’t stop there…there’s heaps more happening. Wait for this one!…Your mates at Mortgage Corp have stepped up once again and increased their support for you lucky tournament anglers and your fans in 2016. Once again the company is sponsoring the popular Mortgage Corp Live Stream of the weigh-in, and also rewarding the angler who is the “Monster Mover” up the leader board at each two day tournament. In “one day wonders’ all anglers not catching a fish will go into a draw for an amazing Mortgage Corp picnic pack. Hobie Fishing has introduced the “First Timer Entry” option. Any angler choosing this option and fishing their first Hobie tournament won’t have to be an ABT member and their entry fee will be free, yep free…Zilch! You’ve got to get your family and friends in on the action. Excited anglers are expected to hit the monster Black Bream of Bemm River with an absolutely, huge Bang! Let’s crack the ton for the first time and with that there’d be some big bucks in that prize pool. Bemm’s association with the Hobie Worlds continues with the season’s opener also being the first qualifying round for the 2016 Hobie Fishing World Championship! Here’s some more BIG news…The Hobie Worlds Qualifiers have landed in a whole new ball park. There are 5 world championship qualifying rounds, in each round you score points, but you must compete in a minimum of 3 rounds. The top six point scorers get one of the coveted places on the team to represent Australia at Hobie Fishing Worlds 6 (HFW6) which will be held at… (Well, that’s ––still a secret. Speaking of innovations, anglers get to smash into the waters around Scamander on the north east coast of Tassie for a first up, Friday and Saturday tournament…Yes, you read it right! Friday and Saturday, and even more incredible, it’s a Hobie Fishing World Championship qualifying round… and again, yes you read it right! Tassie has a Hobie Worlds Qualifier, the first time off the mainland. Four days later, the Hobie Fishing road train rolls 90km down the Van Diemen’s Land coast to Swan River for a second two day tournament. Hold onto to your tackles boxes and get this little Tasmanian Devil into you…it’s on a Wednesday and Thursday. Whoa! Unbelievable but true, a midweek tournament and two events in just one week and in Tassie. Incredible! Sensational! Hobie Fishing knows where you get your kicks from so in the 2016 series, session times will run from 7am until 2:30pm, on each day of a tournament. New session times, longer fishing time, bigger grins, this year’s a happening thing. The third HFW6 qualifier will see the waters fire up in Victoria with “Mallacoota Madness in March”. Your fourth chance to score HFW6 points is the “Little Devil” down at Scamander in Tasmania and your final chance to get those important points and hook a spot on the Oz Worlds team will be at…Wallis Lake in New South Wales!
