Mandatory Briefings
It is mandatory to attend all briefings listed below. Anglers who are unable to attend the boat allocation, navigation & pre-fish day will have to forfeit their entry into the Australian Championship.
No Go Zones
- Seaward side of the outer Port and Starboard Markers of the Gold Coast Seaway Entrance.
- Sign Posted Marinas
- If you are asked to move along from ANY marina. Please do so immediately.
Daiwa Event Site Location
Foreshore, Mitchell Park, Broadwater, Gold Coast, Queensland.
Atomic Launch Location
Berkley Bump-Tub, Weigh In Site
Fishing Format
- 2-Day, cumulative weight tournament.
- All eligible fish mush be weighed alive and released in a healthy condition.
No Fishing
The Australian Championship location will have a total pre-fish ban on that waterway from Wednesday 28th September up to and including Thursday 27th October.
Prizes
- Sponsor prize packs paid down to 10th place.
- Championship trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
- Cash Prizes of:
- 1st – $1000.00
- 2nd – $750.00
- 3rd – $500.00
- Boss Hog – $250.00 per competition day.
- Anglers Choice Award (Entry Refunded).
- Donut Dough $100.00
- 1st place will also receive paid entry into the 2017 Hobie Bream Australian Championship provided the angler competes during the 2017 Hobie Kayak Bream Series.
Hog’s Breath Cafe Tournament Dinner
- There will be a tournament dinner on Saturday, October the 29th at Hog’s Breath Cafe.
- Each angler will be given one ticket at registration for the Saturday night tournament dinner as a part of their entry into the 2016 Hobie Bream Australian Championship.
- Anglers must purchase their own drinks.
- If any angler wishes to bring a partner, children or friend please select the additional tickets option in your online entry.
- Please Note: Additional tournament dinner tickets are available in strictly limited numbers and will be handled on a first come first served basis.

The Kayak
- Anglers will compete in identically rigged 2016/17 Hobie Mirage® Pro Angler 14 kayaks.
- Anglers will be required to sign a check-out checklist when they are allocated their kayak on Friday from 8:30am. Anglers who are unable to be present at the allocated time will have to forfeit their entry into the Australian Championship. This same checklist will be produced by Hobie staff to check-in the kayak and accessories when the boat is handed back over after the completion of the competition on Sunday.
- If there are any items damaged or missing the angler will incur charges.
- It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure the supplied batteries are charged before they take the kayak on the water each day. Battery chargers are not be stored in the kayaks at any time.
- After the allocation, all supplied equipment will become the responsibility of the angler for the duration of the event.
- Hobie will provide a detailed list of what items can and cannot be removed from the kayak during the event at boat allocation. No accessories, fittings or decals can be added to or removed from the kayak without permission.
