Local knowledge comes through on day one!

Hinze Dam, Queensland, October 31, 2015

Day one of the Hobie® B.A.S.S. Australia Nation Australian Championship is in the books. The country’s finest kayak Bass anglers went head to head in the first of two sessions on beautiful Hinze Dam in south east Queensland today.

At the close of day one it was the Queenslanders who were in the lead with Stephen Maas currently in first place on 132cm for 3 Bass. Peter Bostock is in second place with 128cm for 3 Bass and Dave Magner is currently in third with 108cm total for 3 Bass.

Conditions were favourable with good cloud cover rolling in early, bringing with it a 5-10 knot breeze that seemed to turn on the bite early. However, some reported that as the breeze cooled around 12:00pm the Bass switched off, signalling the end of the day for some.

This didn’t matter for the top two as both Bostock and Maas returned to the event site early, Bostock with a drowned camera and Maas, content with a solid bag, and not wanting to sting the fish for tomorrow in search of upgrades today.

Tomorrow is a new day and with reports of “Monster Bass” in the dam, there is still plenty of room for movement on the leaderboard. With 24cm currently separating the top 3, there will be some anxious anglers hitting the water tomorrow morning.

Stay Tuned.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Hobie Livewells

The Hobie Livewell range is used for storage of live bait, or caught fish, that fits onto the rear storage wells of most MirageDrive® Pedal Kayaks.
