The 2015 Australian Championship of the Hobie Kayak Bream Series – presented by Daiwa will held on Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, from October 23rd – 25th

Tournament Entry

By invitation only.

Diawa Event Site Location

Rafferty’s Resort, Wild Duck Drive via Rafferty’s Road, Cams Wharf, Lake Macquarie NSW.

Fishing Format

2-Day, cumulative weight tournament. All eligible fish mush be weighed alive and released in healthy condition.

No Fishing

Pre-Fish Ban in effect from Monday September 28th up to and including Thursday the 22nd of October within the tournament arena.

Mandatory Briefings

It is mandatory to attend all briefings listed below. Anglers who are unable to attend the boat allocation, navigation & pre-fish day will have to forfeit their entry into the Australian Championship.

Boat Allocation, Boat Briefing & Event Registration

8:30am Friday, 23rd of October. The Foreshore of the Rafferty’s Resort Grounds. Bring your Australian Type 1 PFD and NSW Fishing License for inspection by the event staff.

Lowrance Insight Genesis Briefing

9:00am Friday, 23rd of October. Anglers will be provided with Lowrance Insight Genesis memory card and instructions on how to map the area using their sounder. The angler who maps the largest area over the course of the competition will win a Lowrance HDS7 Gen3 Sounder.

Lowrance Navigation & Pre-Fish Day (FISHING ALLOWED)

9:30am – 1:00pm Friday, 23rd of October. Anglers are allowed on the water in the event kayaks between 9:30am – 1:00pm. Any angler on the tournament waterway on Friday outside these times are subject to penalties imposed by the Tournament Director. Anglers who fail to return by 1pm will have time added to their start time.

The boat allocation, navigation & pre-fish day is so the anglers can familiarise themselves with the kayak on the water and address any issues or questions prior to the event.

Official Event Briefing and Welcome

5:30pm Friday the 23rd of October. Briefing Location: Freddie’s Conference Room, Rafferty’s Resort.

Session Times

Saturday session times will be announced during the official briefing at 5:30pm on Friday the 23rd of October. Sunday session times will be announced at Saturday morning’s briefing.

ABT Membership

All competitors need to be ABT members to fish the Australian Championship.

Prizes

The 2015 Hobie Kayak Bream Fishing Series Australian Champion will be granted a slot in Australian Fishing Championships (AFC) representing Team Hobie as well as sponsors prize packs and cash prizes.

Daiwa Tournament Dinner
  • There will be a tournament dinner on Saturday October the 24th at Freddies Tapas & Wine Bar, Raffertys Resort. Each angler will be given one ticket at the registration for the Saturday night tournament dinner as a part of their entry into the 2015 Hobie Kayak Bream Series Australian Championship. Anglers must purchase their own drinks.
  • If any angler wishes to bring a partner, children or friend please select the additional tickets option in your online entry. Please Note: Additional tournament dinner tickets are available in strictly limited numbers and will be handled on a first come first served basis.
The Kayak
  • Anglers will compete in identically rigged 2016 Hobie Mirage Pro Angler 14 kayaks.
  • No accessories, fittings or decals can be added to the kayak without permission.
  • Anglers will be required to sign a check-out checklist when they are allocated their kayak on Friday from 8:30am. Anglers who are unable to be present at the allocated time will have to forfeit their entry into the Australian Championship. This same checklist will be produced by Hobie staff to check-in the kayak and accessories when the boat is handed back over after the completion of the competition on Sunday.
  • If there are any items damaged or missing, the angler will incur charges.
  • It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure the supplied batteries are charged before they take the kayak on the water each day. Battery chargers are not be stored in the kayaks at any time.
  • After the allocation on Friday, all supplied equipment will become the responsibility of the angler for the duration of the event.
  • Hobie will provide a detailed list of what items can and cannot be removed from the kayak during the event at boat allocation.

Accommodation has been set aside by the organisers and is ready to be taken over by the attending anglers.

15 x 2 Bedroom Deluxe Cottages with loft and 7 x 2 Bedroom Deluxe Terraces with a Loft have been set aside for competitors and their families.

Our 2 bedroom cottages with loft are designed with the family in mind sleeping up to 6 people.
