Noosa Round 5 – Nigel Webster claims his first kayak victory.
Nigel Webster 6/6, 2.18kg has taken out the Noosa round of the Hobie Kayak series. The Tewantin based angler used his local knowledge to target bream throughout the two days of competition, and was the only angler to secure his limit each session. The Noosa round was the first kayak event in the Hobie Series that used a combined 2 day bag weight whilst also serving as the QLD State Title event.
Kayaks and jewfish get with the flow.
At the time it was flattering but also a bit of a pain that several anglers and journalists worked out a handful of my pet kayak jewfish spots on the NSW south coast.
The upside is that it has forced me to explore further afield and has made me a better angler. So far I have confidently identified a dozen new places to catch these prized fish, but they are still hard enough to make it fun.

Steve Morgan takes out the 2009 Ford Ranger BREAM Grand Final!
Steve Morgan overcame a select field and tough fishing conditions to secure his first ABT BREAM Grand Final victory. Held on the iconic Sydney Harbour waterways, Morgan consistently produced over the three days of the event, accruing a tournament limit 5/5 each session and accounting for his nearest competitor by more than a kilo.
Fishing his first ever ABT BREAM Grand Final, Morgan used his knowledge of the vast Sydney Harbour system to adapt and overcome the often challenging conditions. With tournament days producing temperatures in the high twenties and clear conditions making the bream increasingly more wary, anglers struggled to produce consistent results over the three days of the tournament.
